MANF announces lineup for its Annual Music Fest


Bangalore: M A Narasimhachar Foundation is organizing its tenth annual music festival from November 4 to 13 at the Bangalore Gayana Samaj Hall. The foundation, which was setup in 2001 to commemorate "Sangeetha Bhushana" M A Narasimhachar, one of the greatest connoisseurs, senior musician and musicologist, has been conducting this annual festival to provide a platform to the young musicians and honor one eminent artiste every year.

This much anticipated festival begins with a vocal performance by Padmabhushan Sangitha Kalanidhi R.K.Srikantan, and over the ten days will feature personalities like Sanjay Subramanyam, Sampagodu S Vighnarajaon, Abhishek Raghuram, Priya Sisters and Parameshwar Hedge on stage. Krishna Leela Harikatha by Vishaka Hari and percussion ensemble by Layatharanga also pack into this ten day programme. The festival will end with a violin duet of M.Nagaraj and M.Manjunath

During this occasion violin maestro Dr Mysore M.Manjunath will be conferred the title 'Gana Varidhi'. Dr Manjunath, the son and disciple of veteran violinist Prof. S. Mahadevappa, has matured quickly as an exceptional violinist in the country. This award adds to his many laurels - Rajyothsava Award, Aryabhata, Sangeeth Samrat, Sangitha Vidwanmani and more - that he has received since his childhood. Past recipients of the Gana Varidhi award include Dr Kadri Gopalnath, MS Sheela, R.K. Padmanaba and Suma Sudhindra.
