Charming Satyabhama

Hyderabad: Kala Ratna Smt Manju Bhargavi, renowned Kuchipudi dancer, teacher and choreographer, was recently felicitated at Ravindra Bharathi on the occasion of her completing 50 golden performing years.

Trained under the legendary Dr Vempati Chinna Satyam, she came to limelight in her role of Tulasi in the national award winning Telugu film Sankarabharaman in 1979. She has pursued her classical dancing career both on and off screen, choreographing many items including "Sree Lalitha Nrithyaarchanam", and teaching for past 25 years under the banner of her dance academy "Natya Vedam" in Bangalore.

Present in the felicitation ceremony were member of Parliament Dr T Subbarami Reddy, film actor Naga Babu, eminent poet Dr Rallabandi Kavitha Prasad and renowned stage writer CS Rao. Continuing her journey of Kuchipudi, Manju Bhargavi presented Bhama Kalapam, a traditional Kuchipudi dance ballet.
