Cartoons stripped of its legend

As a 10 year old, I still remember how eagerly I waited for the newspaper boy to deliver The Illustrated Weekly. The cartoons, illustrations of the legendary Illustrator – Mario Miranda was what I searched in these issues.

In one page, the Mario Miranda had the magic of showcasing the whole country and its essence.

The Goan ethos were very esthetically imbibed in the National colour. The Travellogues are one of the most interesting reading – the Illustrator with his magic, inimitable style left lasting impressions that the present day high end cameras fails to give. The illustrations captured the pulse and ways of people.

Miss NimbooPani, Miss Fonsenca, Bundaldass, Napolean were the humour cult figures gifted as cultural assets to the Newspaper 'Die hard' readers.

The Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan awardee, the 85 year old legendary cartoonist will not be home for Christmas!
