Of classical serenity


The 39th annual classical Pandit Motiram Pandit Maniram Sangeet Samaroh was held recently in Hyderabad.

This festival of Indian classical music organized by Padma Vibhushan Pt Jasraj in memory of his father Pt Motiram and bother Pt Maniram, both classical musicians of repute, saw an array of India's finest classical musicians play at the Chowmahalla palace. This year's festival featured amongst others Pt Jasraj's disciples - Sanjeev Abhyankar, Tripti Mukherjee and Gargi Dutta, and his nephew Rattan Mohan Sharma.

The festival also featured 16-year old Shehnai wizard Bhaskarnath of Meerut Gharana.On Nov 30th, as always every year, Pt Jasraj was at his creative peaks as he paid tribute to his lineage.
